When Memories Pop Up Like Toast

by | June 23, 2021

I have two succulents on my kitchen window ledge. I check in with them daily to see how they’re doing, along with my other non-succulent plants. But this morning was different. Upon seeing them, my thoughts flashed back to our dinner table one night in 1996. My son told me that his science teacher had some little succulents in her classroom window that he really liked. He struck up a conversation with her about them that day, which led to many more conversations about plants during that school year.

I’ll never know why that memory popped up today. It left me smiling.
